Govt Announces Date for CM Youth Laptop Scheme in Another Major District

The Punjab government has set Monday, February 16, 2026, for the official launch of the Chief Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme in the Gujranwala Division. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif will lead the inauguration event at the University of Gujrat.

This move forms part of the broader effort to supply laptops to eligible students in Punjab. It supports digital access for learning and helps reduce gaps in technology use among young people in the province.

The scheme targets meritorious students enrolled in public and selected private universities. Applications remain open through the official portal at cmlaptophed.punjab.gov.pk, with the current phase closing soon—many sources note February 15, 2026, as a key deadline for submissions, though the program portal lists February 28 in some updates. Students need Punjab domicile and must meet marks criteria, such as 65% or higher in intermediate for most BS programs.

Key Details of the Scheme

  • Focuses on undergraduate students, mainly in early semesters (1st and 2nd).
  • Provides high-spec laptops to aid studies, research, and skill-building.
  • Aligns with the Punjab government’s declaration of 2026 as the Year of Youth, which includes plans for large-scale laptop distribution, scholarships, and other youth support measures announced late last year.

The event in Gujranwala will bring together students, university staff, and education officials. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is expected to speak on the province’s push for better education and technology access.

This divisional launch follows similar rollouts elsewhere and comes as Phase II of the program expands to more students and institutions.
