Punjab has introduced a new system that lets vehicle owners pay token tax and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) challans directly through the traffic police using a single digital app.
The move aims to make government payments easier and more transparent for citizens across the province.
One App Punjab Expands Services
The Punjab Excise Department will now collect token tax and EPA challans through traffic police officials. They will use the One App Punjab platform, which already handles digital traffic challans.
This service brings together payments for traffic fines, token taxes, and other dues in one place. Officials plan to roll it out in phases starting next week.
DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir said the app connects data from nine government departments. Drivers can check pending dues by entering their vehicle number or uploading a photo of the number plate.
Traffic police have used the platform for digital challans during the past two months. They are now adding more payment options to help motorists handle vehicle-related tasks in one go.
How Payments Will Work
Payments will use the PSID system, sending money straight to the right government department. This direct method speeds up processing and cuts chances of delays or issues.
In the next phase, authorities will link more departments to the app. The goal is to create one complete digital portal for all vehicle information and payments in Punjab.
Background and Impact
This step builds on the existing One App system for traffic enforcement. It forms part of broader efforts to digitize government services in the province, giving citizens easier access from their phones.
