Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has announced free petrol for motorcycle riders in the province until Eid ul-Fitr. Each rider will get 3 liters of petrol at no cost as a gesture to help with high fuel prices during Ramadan.
Karachi – In a move to ease the burden on daily commuters amid sharp rises in petroleum costs, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori announced that motorcycle riders across the province will receive 3 liters of free petrol until Eid ul-Fitr.
The governor described the initiative as an Eid gift for those struggling to afford fuel, noting that many people find it hard to pay even 1,000 rupees for petrol in the current economic conditions. He said he plans to make surprise visits to petrol pumps in Karachi tomorrow or the day after to personally check that riders get their free fuel without issues.
Tessori pointed to the broader challenges facing the country. “The region is in a state of war; pray that peace is restored,” he said. He warned that if the conflict continues, prices of petrol and other essentials could climb further. He also stressed the need to follow Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s austerity measures to control spending.
The governor has taken steps to cut back on personal and official expenses during the last ten days of Ramadan. All Iftar parties at the Governor House have been canceled. However, the regular public Iftar program will go ahead as planned. Tessori added that he has turned down all invitations to attend Iftar events as a guest.

The announcement comes at a time when fuel prices have put pressure on low- and middle-income households, especially those relying on motorcycles for daily travel to work, markets, or family visits during Ramadan. Similar relief efforts have appeared in other provinces, such as fuel subsidies for registered motorcyclists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Eid ul-Fitr is expected around mid-to-late March 2026, depending on the moon sighting marking the end of Ramadan.
