Free Groceries Delivered to Doors in 35 Punjab Cities – Big Relief Underway

Lahore – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the expansion of a free home delivery service for essential food items, now covering 35 cities through 46 Sahulat Bazaars. The initiative, managed by the Punjab Sahulat Bazaars Authority (PSBA), delivers 13 basic commodities at government-fixed prices below official rates, with no delivery charges.

The program aims to protect households from rising prices by bringing affordable groceries straight to people’s doors. So far, more than 312,000 orders have reached families across the province, helping them save around Rs110 million in total.

How the Service Works

Residents order through a dedicated mobile app, available for free download on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. PSBA riders handle the deliveries at no extra cost.

The 13 items on offer include:

  • Vegetables: potatoes, onions, tomatoes, garlic, pumpkin
  • Fruits: apples, bananas, dates, lemons, guava, watermelon
  • Staples: gram lentils (chana daal), besan (gram flour), wheat flour, sugar

These prices stay up to 7% lower than the rates set by deputy commissioners, giving direct relief on daily kitchen needs.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif stressed the government’s focus on keeping inflation from hitting ordinary people hard. “We will not allow unjustified price increases to burden the public,” she said, adding that the service will reach more cities in the weeks ahead.

Public feedback has been positive. Residents in places like Lodhran have noted how the doorstep option cuts travel time, fuel costs, and hassle, especially for families on tight budgets.

The Punjab government continues to run the scheme as part of broader efforts to ensure stable access to essentials.
