Lahore – Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, along with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, formally opened the renovated State Lounge and the rebuilt Ravi Lounge at Allama Iqbal International Airport on Thursday.
The ceremony took place as part of efforts to bring the airport’s facilities in line with international benchmarks. Defence Secretary Muhammad Ali welcomed the group at the airport. The Director General of the Pakistan Airports Authority, Air Vice Marshal Zeeshan Saeed, gave a full briefing on the renovation work and the larger upgrade plan for the facility.
The revamped lounges now include updated seating arrangements, better lighting and design, and quicker service processes. These changes aim to cut down passenger wait times and make journeys smoother for those using Lahore’s main airport.
Nawaz Sharif spoke about the importance of the project during the event. He said the work shows a clear focus on providing high-quality services to travelers and bringing the airport closer to global levels. The upgrades are meant to serve both local and overseas passengers more effectively.
The renovations fall under broader instructions from the Ministry of Defence to improve key areas in major airports around Pakistan. Officials expect the new setup to raise the standard of travel through Lahore and position the airport as a more reliable stop for international routes.
