Mercedes Updates S-Class With 2027 Facelift

The 2027 Mercedes-Benz S-Class received a major update, revealed in late January 2026. This refresh brings fresh exterior styling, stronger engines, and a more advanced interior focused on screens and AI features.

Mercedes-Benz introduced the updated flagship sedan with changes that go beyond a standard facelift. The company states that over 50% of the vehicle—around 2,700 parts—has been revised or newly developed. This makes it one of the most thorough mid-cycle updates in the model’s history.

Exterior Design Updates

The front end stands out with a grille enlarged by about 20%. It includes three-dimensional chrome stars and, as an option, illumination around the frame. New headlights use star-shaped LED patterns, and similar lighting appears at the rear. These elements give the car a bolder, more prominent look while keeping the classic S-Class proportions.

Powertrain Options

The lineup includes three main variants with increased output:

  • S500: A 3.0-liter turbo inline-six mild hybrid delivers 442 hp and strong torque, paired with all-wheel drive.
  • S580: Features a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, now with a flat-plane crank, producing 530 hp for quicker acceleration.
  • S580e: The plug-in hybrid combines a six-cylinder engine and electric motor for a total of around 576 hp.

All models use a 9-speed automatic transmission, 4MATIC all-wheel drive, and rear-axle steering. Updated suspension with intelligent dampers and mild-hybrid support enhances ride quality and handling.

Interior and Technology

The cabin emphasizes digital interfaces. The MBUX Superscreen spans the dashboard with a 12.3-inch driver display, 14.4-inch central touchscreen, and 12.3-inch passenger screen. AI helps with navigation and voice controls. Rear passengers benefit from 13.1-inch screens, video call support, heated seat belts, digital air vents, dual wireless chargers, and refined ambient lighting.

Mercedes has not released official pricing details yet. Industry observers expect a slight rise compared to the current model because of the enhanced V8 and added features.

Global sales begin in the second half of 2026. In markets like Pakistan, deliveries through authorized or premium importers should start in early to mid-2027, though stock may remain limited at first.

This update keeps the S-Class as a top choice in the luxury sedan class, balancing comfort, performance, and modern technology.
