This Chinese Luxury Electric Vehicle is Ready to Launch in Pakistan

Pakistan’s electric vehicle scene is about to get a high-end boost. Capital Smart Motors has confirmed the arrival of the Zeekr 009, a premium Chinese electric MPV that’s cleared customs and is ready for local roads. Set to launch soon, this seven-seater aims at affluent buyers seeking space, power, and tech in one package. At an estimated Rs 3.7-4 crore, it enters a niche dominated by giants like Lexus and Mercedes-Benz, signaling China’s growing footprint in the country’s luxury auto space.

The Zeekr 009, from Geely’s upscale EV arm, blends family-friendly design with executive perks, built on the Sustainable Experience Architecture platform for efficiency and eco-focus.

Inside the Zeekr 009: Comfort Meets Cutting-Edge Tech

This MPV prioritizes passenger ease, turning long trips into lounge sessions. The second row shines with Nappa leather seats offering heating, ventilation, massage functions, and zero-gravity recline. Headrest speakers and Yamaha audio add to the rear-seat bliss.

The third row keeps up with reclining seats, leather armrests, and adjustable vents for even airflow. Up front, drivers get a panoramic moonroof, Alcantara headliner, massaging seats, and ambient lighting on the dash.

Practical touches include wireless charging pads, smart storage layers, and a full digital instrument cluster. A massive panoramic glass roof floods the cabin with light, while double-insulated glass keeps noise low—even at highway speeds, it’s just 64.5 dB.

Power and Range: Built for Pakistani Roads

Under the hood, dual electric motors deliver 536 horsepower and all-wheel drive, hitting 100 km/h in under 5 seconds. A 140 kWh CATL Qilin battery provides up to 686 km on a single charge, ideal for cross-city hauls.

Charging is a highlight: 10-80% in just 12 minutes via DC fast setup. Home charging takes longer but supports overnight convenience. Extra storage comes from a large rear boot and front frunk, perfect for gear-heavy families.

At 5,209 mm long with a 3,205 mm wheelbase, it dwarfs most rivals in roominess, weighing around 2,870 kg for a planted feel.

Pricing and Market Fit

Booked units start at Rs 3.7 crore on-road, covering import duties and taxes—positioning it as Pakistan’s priciest EV yet. Capital Smart Motors, handling Zeekr’s local ops, targets executives and large families over mass-market buyers.

It challenges the Lexus LM and Mercedes V-Class in comfort but adds EV perks like zero emissions and lower running costs.

Challenges Ahead: Infrastructure and Adoption

While the Zeekr 009 dazzles, Pakistan’s EV setup lags. The National Electric Vehicle Policy 2025-30 pushes for stations every 10 km in cities and 105 km on highways, with Rs 9 billion in subsidies for bikes and rickshaws this year. Yet, ultra-fast chargers for models like this remain scarce outside major cities.

Buyers may face long waits for home setups, and grid reliability could test daily use. Still, with fuel savings (Rs 840 per 100 km vs. Rs 2,600 for petrol) and carbon credits on the horizon, early adopters see long-term value.

The Zeekr 009 could nudge Pakistan toward premium EVs, but success depends on better infrastructure. As Capital Smart Motors rolls it out, watch for test drives and real-user feedback. Head to Auto – NawaTimes for more on the local auto shift.
