Punjab’s government has decided to hand out 10,000 laptops to students in private schools and colleges. Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat shared this update while reviewing the department’s work in 2025, calling it another strong year for school improvements.
The minister pointed out several key steps taken to clean up and strengthen the system. Authorities removed around two million fake student enrollments, which had been inflating numbers without real pupils. They also shifted 26,000 teachers to better match needs across schools, helping fix shortages in many places.
Other changes included updates to the curriculum and exam processes. All education boards now use digital marking for fairness. Safety measures moved forward too, with plans to screen new hires for past criminal records related to offenses against children. Officials resolved 37 complaints involving teacher misconduct.
On the ground, the province upgraded 268 schools and built early childhood classrooms in 10,000 locations. Daily meals now reach 1.1 million young students to support health and attendance.

Higher education saw merit-based appointments as well. The government filled principal posts in 450 colleges and vice-chancellor roles in 29 universities.
These efforts build on ongoing work to make schooling more reliable and accessible across Punjab.
