The Punjab government has chosen hundreds of villages to receive city-like municipal services as part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s Model Village Programme.
Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique shared the update during a meeting on Saturday. Officials reviewed progress on the rural initiative and the separate Lahore Development Programme.
Key officials attended, including Local Government Secretary Shakeel Ahmed Mian, Special Secretary Development Asia Gul, Special Secretary Local Government Arshad Baig, and Additional Secretary Development Ahmer Kaifi.

The programme focuses on better roads, cleaner water, improved waste management, and other basic amenities in rural areas. It seeks to raise living standards for villagers and support long-term growth in Punjab.
