Lahore – Punjab has taken a concrete step toward cleaner transport with the official launch of the country’s first vehicles produced entirely under the “Made in Pakistan” label. These include electric and solar-powered bikes, cars, and buses, introduced on Saturday at a ceremony in Lahore.
Provincial Energy and Sports Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, along with Member of the National Assembly Malik Saiful Malook Khokhar, led the inauguration at the SBP e-Library inside Nishtar Park Sports Complex. The event highlighted efforts to build local manufacturing capacity for electric vehicles (EVs).
Key Details from the Launch
Officials described the move as an important push to cut reliance on imported fuel and support cleaner energy options. Local production is expected to bring down travel costs for people while helping expand the use of renewable sources in daily transport.
Minister Faisal Ayub Khokhar called the development a major forward step in reducing pressure on national energy resources. He mentioned plans for a Youth Expo in Punjab soon, where young people can show their work and link up with businesses and experts in the field.
MNA Saiful Malook Khokhar pointed to the job creation potential. He said the project would open positions in areas such as vehicle assembly, production lines, repair services, and battery-related work—especially for skilled young workers in the province.
The initiative focuses on building a stronger base for clean transport in Pakistan and encouraging more people to switch to environment-friendly options.
