Punjab Installs 4G Cameras to Track River Water Levels

Punjab’s government has placed 4G cameras along major rivers to keep tabs on water levels in real time. This move helps officials spot rising waters early and respond to potential floods.

The setup allows constant checks without needing people on site. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif posted about it on X, sharing shots from one of the cameras. The images show a night view of a river and the device fixed on a pole.

Such tools fit into broader plans to handle floods better in the province. Punjab has seen heavy rains and river swells in recent years, causing damage to homes and farms. By using tech like this, authorities aim to warn communities sooner.

One reply to the post noted cameras on the Chenab River near Pindi Bhattian. Others praised the effort for boosting safety.

Officials expect this system to cut risks during monsoon months. More details on locations and coverage may come soon.
