Sialkot, August 17, 2025: In a groundbreaking move to support women educators, the Punjab government has launched a program to provide free electric bikes to female teachers in Sialkot. Backed by the local business community, this initiative aims to ease daily commutes while promoting eco-friendly transportation.

The program, spearheaded by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, seeks to address mobility challenges faced by female teachers, particularly in semi-urban and rural areas. The response to the scheme has been remarkable, with over 650 female teachers submitting applications by the August 10 deadline. To ensure fairness, the distribution will be conducted through a computerized ballot system. Eligible applicants include both permanent and contract teachers under 35 years of age, with priority given to widows, divorced women, and sole breadwinners.
