The Punjab government has extended the application deadline for Phase 3 of the Chief Minister’s Green Tractor Scheme to January 31, giving farmers more time to apply amid strong interest in the program.
Lahore – The Punjab government has pushed back the closing date for applications under Phase 3 of the Chief Minister Green Tractor Scheme until January 31, 2026. Officials made the decision after receiving a large number of requests from farmers who needed additional time to complete their submissions.
This phase focuses on distributing 10,000 tractors in the 50–65 horsepower range to help farmers shift toward modern equipment. The overall plan across all phases aims to supply 20,000 tractors throughout Punjab, with subsidies that lower the cost significantly.
Farmers with at least seven acres of land remain eligible for the scheme. Subsidies stand at Rs 500,000 for medium-power tractors and up to Rs 1 million for higher-power models (up to 125 horsepower in the broader program). Applications must go through the official portal at https://gts.punjab.gov.pk or the Punjab Agriculture Department website www.agripunjab.gov.pk.
Strong Response from Farmers
The scheme has drawn widespread attention since its earlier phases. In Phase 1, authorities distributed 9,500 tractors, and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz personally reached out to several recipients with phone calls to offer her congratulations. Phase 2 wrapped up in December 2025.
For the current round, more than 734,000 farmers submitted applications, and around 282,000 met the eligibility requirements. A clear majority—about 98%—chose tractors manufactured locally, which points to growing trust in Pakistan’s own production capabilities and provides support to domestic industries.
Official Commitment to Farmers
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has described the initiative as a clear sign of the government’s focus on direct assistance to the farming community. She stressed that the program delivers modern machinery straight to those who rely on it for their livelihood, helping to build a stronger agricultural base across Punjab.
