Punjab roads upgraded: Safer, faster travel in Faisalabad area

The Punjab government has finished work on key road sections in Faisalabad and nearby districts as part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s Roads Restoration Program. The upgraded roads link Faisalabad with Sahianwala, Tandlianwala, Mari Pan (also referred to as Mari Pattan), and Okara, promising better travel conditions and stronger ties between urban centers and rural communities.

Officials from the Punjab Communication and Works Department confirmed that rehabilitation on these routes is now complete. The work focused on improving road surfaces, drainage, and overall safety to handle daily traffic more effectively.

The upgraded stretches include:

  • Faisalabad–Sahianwala Road
  • Tandlianwala Road
  • Mari Pan Road
  • Okara Road (sections connecting through these areas)

These roads serve Faisalabad division and surrounding rural zones, where agriculture and small-scale trade play a major role. Residents and transporters can now expect shorter travel times, fewer potholes, and reduced risk of accidents on these busy links.

The improvements support the movement of farm produce to markets in Faisalabad and Okara, ease public bus and truck operations, and help local shops and businesses by making goods transport more reliable. Rural families gain quicker access to schools, hospitals, and other services in nearby cities.

This completion forms part of the larger Roads Restoration Program led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The initiative targets damaged and outdated roads across Punjab to improve mobility, cut down on vehicle wear, and encourage steady economic activity in both cities and villages.

No immediate official English statement from the Punjab government was available beyond the announcement, but the focus remains on practical benefits for everyday commuters and the local economy.

The program continues in other districts, with similar upgrades planned or underway to cover more of the province’s road network.
