Private University Students Can Now Apply for Punjab Laptop Scheme

The Punjab government has opened applications for its Chief Minister Laptop Scheme to students in private universities, allowing eligible candidates to receive free laptops.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz made the announcement on the International Day of Education. She stressed that access to quality education should be available to everyone, regardless of whether they study in public or private institutions. The chief minister said the government remains committed to helping students in both sectors succeed through better resources.

Until now, the scheme focused on students in public universities and colleges. With this change, private university students can also apply if they have achieved at least 65% marks in their studies. The program seeks to give more young people in Punjab the tools needed for online research, assignments, and modern learning methods.

Applications are now open through the official website: cmlaptophed.punjab.gov.pk. Students need to register online, and the process has been kept straightforward to reach as many qualified applicants as possible.

This step comes as part of broader efforts in Punjab to reduce gaps in digital access and support higher education. Officials expect it will help thousands of students improve their academic work in a world that relies heavily on technology.

The expansion follows earlier phases of the laptop program under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, which has already distributed devices to public sector students. Recent reports indicate plans to cover around 10,000 students from private institutions in the current phase.
