PM Launches Laptop Scheme in Another Province

The Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme has been formally launched in Sindh, with plans to distribute 20,000 laptops to students in the province.

The event took place at NED University of Engineering and Technology in Karachi on January 29, 2026. It marks the federal government’s effort to bring the program back to Sindh after a pause since 2018.

Raja Khaliq Zaman Ansari, the federal government’s spokesperson for Sindh affairs, spoke at the ceremony. He described education combined with technology as essential for the country’s progress. Ansari said the scheme focuses on giving students better access to digital tools, research materials, and IT resources. He noted that the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme team worked to restart the initiative with clear processes and proper oversight.

“This ensures students in Sindh join the rest of the country in education and technology efforts,” Ansari stated.

The program forms part of wider federal steps to support students through practical help. Officials expect the laptops to help improve study results, support research work, and build real-world computer skills among young people.

Recent reports mention broader distribution plans in Sindh, with some sources indicating up to 58,000 laptops across 33 universities in the province. The scheme operates on merit, targeting deserving students in higher education.

The scheme aligns with national goals to build stronger digital literacy and give young Pakistanis tools for better learning and future jobs. Students across Sindh can now look forward to these resources as distribution rolls out.
