Google Launches Pixel 10a with Flagship AI Features

Google has introduced the Pixel 10a, its latest mid-range smartphone that brings several flagship-level AI capabilities to a more accessible price point. Announced on February 18, 2026, the device starts at $499 and goes on sale March 5, aiming to deliver strong performance, reliable cameras, and extended software support without the higher cost of premium models.

Key Features and Upgrades

The Pixel 10a runs on the Google Tensor G4 chip paired with 8GB of RAM, the same setup found in the previous Pixel 9a. This powers a range of AI tools, including Gemini integration for tasks like photo editing and real-time assistance. Google emphasizes that many advanced AI features from the main Pixel 10 series now appear in this budget option.

The camera system includes a 48MP main sensor and a 13MP ultrawide lens. Google describes it as the best camera available on any phone under $500, with AI-enhanced editing options for quick adjustments and creative results.

A 6.3-inch Actua pOLED display offers FHD+ resolution, adaptive refresh rates from 60Hz to 120Hz, and peak brightness up to 3,000 nits. It uses Gorilla Glass 7i for better scratch and drop resistance compared to prior A-series models.

Battery capacity reaches 5,100mAh, providing over 30 hours of typical use and up to 120 hours in Extreme Battery Saver mode. Charging supports faster wired speeds than before, along with 10W wireless.

For the first time in the A-series, the phone includes satellite SOS for emergency contact in areas without cell service. It also carries an IP68 rating for dust and water protection.

The design features a flat back with a flush camera array, moving away from the raised bar on flagship Pixels. It comes in colors including Lavender, Berry, Fog, and Obsidian, built partly with recycled materials.

Google promises seven years of OS updates, security patches, and Pixel Drop features, starting with Android 16 at launch. This extends support well into the 2030s.

Pre-orders are open now through the Google Store and carriers, with availability beginning March 5. The 128GB model costs $499, while 256GB is $599.
