Pakistan Railways Delays Key Trains from Lahore Due to Dense Fog

Thick fog across Punjab has forced Pakistan Railways to adjust departure times for several major trains heading south from Lahore, mainly to Karachi. The changes aim to maintain safety in low-visibility conditions that have affected rail operations in recent days.

The Karakoram Express (42-Down), normally leaving Lahore at 3:00 PM for Karachi, will now depart at 6:00 PM. This results in a three-hour delay for passengers on this popular route.

The Karachi Express faces a longer wait. Originally set to leave at 6:00 PM, it will now start its journey at 12:45 AM — a delay of six hours and forty-five minutes.

The Millat Express, which begins from Lalamusa to Karachi, has also been rescheduled. It was due to depart at 5:50 PM but will now leave Faisalabad at 12:00 AM, marking a delay of six hours and ten minutes.

These updates come amid widespread dense fog reported in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and other parts of Punjab on January 11, 2026. The weather has reduced visibility sharply, prompting slower train speeds and schedule shifts to prevent accidents. Similar disruptions have occurred in previous days, with authorities stressing safety measures for crews.

Pakistan Railways has urged passengers to confirm the latest timings before arriving at stations. Travelers can contact the railway inquiry helpline for real-time information.

The fog, combined with cold temperatures dipping to around 4-5°C in Lahore, continues to impact daily life and transport in the region.
