Pakistan Cuts Petrol by Over Rs10 – New Rates from Today

Pakistanis start 2026 with lower fuel costs as the government cuts prices on petrol and diesel starting today.

The new rates take effect from January 1 and will stay in place until mid-month.

New Fuel Prices Effective January 1, 2026

  • Petrol: Rs 253.17 per litre (down by Rs 10.28)
  • High-Speed Diesel: Rs 257.08 per litre (down by Rs 8.57)

The Petroleum Division approved these changes based on advice from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). Officials reviewed recent drops in global oil prices along with local market conditions.

This move should help drivers, commuters, and businesses. Fuel costs affect everything from daily travel to the price of goods transported across the country. Lower diesel rates, in particular, benefit trucks and farmers who rely on it heavily.

A government spokesperson noted that the adjustment passes on savings from international markets directly to people. Prices get reviewed every two weeks, so further changes could come later in January.

Many see this as welcome news amid ongoing economic pressures.
