The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has temporarily stopped passenger vehicles from entering the M-1 Motorway linking Islamabad to Peshawar. The move comes in response to heavy rainfall that has made driving conditions dangerous.

Officials took the decision to reduce the chances of accidents caused by slippery roads and reduced visibility. The restriction mainly affects entry points for passenger cars and similar vehicles, while authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.

Why the restriction was put in place Heavy rain has hit parts of the region in recent days, lowering visibility and increasing risks on the high-speed motorway. NHMP said the step is purely for the safety of commuters and to avoid any mishaps.

Motorists have been asked to delay non-essential travel and consider other routes if possible. The police urged people to follow official announcements before planning any journey on the M-1.

The restriction will stay in effect until the weather improves and the motorway is declared safe again.
