The Secretary of Transport and Mass Transit led the session. Senior figures from the Science and Information Technology department, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Urban Mobility Authority, TransPeshawar, and the Bank of Khyber joined in. They talked about rollout phases, ways to arrange funding, technical setup, job creation, and the project’s effects on the environment.
The goal is straightforward: give people in Peshawar a reliable, low-cost way to get around that does not harm the air. Many residents depend on fuel-run vehicles every day. These contribute to dirty air, constant noise, and higher expenses on petrol. Electric rickshaws would cut those issues by removing the need for fossil fuels and bringing down fares for everyday commuters.
Advanced features are part of the plan. Think smart batteries for better performance, digital systems to register vehicles, and monitoring tools to track location, battery levels, and routes in real time. These steps should help keep things open and running smoothly.
The rickshaws will link up with the existing Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) network. This should solve last-mile travel problems, making it easier for people to reach their final stop after a bus ride.
