Islamabad Traffic Police Steps Up Efforts on Motorcycle Lane Rules

Islamabad’s traffic authorities have rolled out a tougher push to keep motorcyclists in their proper lanes, blending firm enforcement with efforts to teach riders the rules for better safety on city roads.

The effort kicked off on January 1, 2026, focusing on busy stretches across the capital. Police are not just handing out tickets—they’re also stopping riders to explain why staying in designated lanes matters, aiming for real changes in how people ride.

Early signs point to success. On routes like Srinagar Highway and Club Road, lane violations by motorcycles have fallen sharply, in some spots by up to 95 percent. Drivers in the area report less jamming and quicker trips during peak hours.
