The Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Islamabad has approved funds to buy five modern vehicle testing units. This move aims to speed up vehicle inspections, cut down long waiting times, and make sure cars and other vehicles follow safety and emission rules more strictly.

Islamabad Set for Five New Vehicle Testing Units

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) plans to bring in five advanced vehicle testing units for the capital city. The decision comes as part of efforts to handle growing numbers of vehicles and address common complaints about slow inspection processes.

These new units feature up-to-date equipment designed for quicker and more precise checks. They will test key areas such as brakes, lights, tires, and exhaust emissions to confirm vehicles meet required safety and environmental standards. Officials expect the additions to ease pressure on current facilities and help vehicle owners get their fitness certificates without major delays.

The step ties into wider goals to strengthen road safety across Islamabad and lower pollution levels from older or poorly maintained vehicles. With air quality often a concern in the city—especially during winter months—the focus on better emission checks supports ongoing work by agencies like Pak-EPA to curb smog.

CDA sources indicate the procurement process will move forward soon, though exact locations for the new units have not been shared yet. The authority has not given a firm timeline for when the units will start operating, but the approval marks clear progress on upgrading inspection services.

This initiative builds on recent actions in Islamabad to improve vehicle compliance. For context, late last year Pak-EPA set up four new emission testing stations at places like D-Chowk, Lake View Park, Metro Cash & Carry, and F-9 Park to support anti-smog drives.

Vehicle owners in the capital often need these tests for registration renewals or fitness certificates. Faster and more reliable services should reduce hassle and encourage timely compliance.

The CDA continues to work on broader infrastructure and enforcement plans to keep roads safer and the air cleaner in Islamabad.
