Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must meet strict educational and professional standards. Preference goes to those with higher qualifications and proven track records in government or private sector IT.
For Director General (IT), PPS-10:
- Master’s degree (16 years) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or equivalent from an HEC-recognized institution. MS, MPhil, or PhD in relevant fields preferred.
- Minimum 17 years of experience, including 5 years in senior leadership.
- Hands-on work in public or private digital transformation, system development, and project management.
- Track record in e-governance, automation, digitization planning, and execution.
- Deep understanding of government processes, IT infrastructure, emerging technologies, data analytics, and stakeholder management.
- Experience in large-scale government IT projects, PPRRA rules compliance, budgeting, cost estimation, and financial planning.
For Director (IT), PPS-09:
- Same educational requirements as above.
- Minimum 12 years of experience, including 5 years in senior leadership.
- Similar expertise in public/private sector transformation, system development, project management, e-governance, automation, digitization, IT infrastructure, emerging technologies, data analytics.
- Extensive experience in large-scale government procurement, PPRRA compliance, budgeting, cost estimation, and financial planning for IT projects.
Both roles demand strong skills in managing complex government IT initiatives.

Age Limits
- Director General (IT): 45 + 5 = 50 years.
- Director (IT): 40 + 5 = 45 years.
