The Balochistan government has rolled out 21 modern buses to upgrade public transport in Quetta and Turbat. This move aims to make daily commutes safer and more reliable for residents in these key cities.
Project Overview
Balochistan first started its Green Bus service in Quetta back in 2023 to address growing urban travel needs. Now, as part of an expansion under the Green and Pink Bus Project, officials have added these new vehicles to handle rising demand.
Out of the total, 17 buses will run in Quetta, the provincial capital. This includes five pink buses set aside just for women to ensure secure rides. The other 12 are green buses open to all, covering main city routes.
Turbat gets the remaining four buses, which will help improve links in that area. The project falls under a public-private partnership model, building on earlier plans announced in April 2025.

Emphasis on Safe Travel for Women
The pink buses in Quetta mark a key step toward inclusive transport. Women in the region have long called for better options to avoid overcrowding and ensure privacy on public rides.
These dedicated vehicles will operate on busy paths, offering a direct response to those concerns. It’s part of wider efforts to support women’s mobility in growing cities like Quetta.

Benefits and Daily Reach
Once up and running, the buses could carry 40,000 to 50,000 people each day. This should cut down on waits and reliance on older vehicles that often break down.
The setup will also create jobs in operations and maintenance. Transport Secretary Muhammad Hayat Kakar noted the buses passed checks and are set to start soon. He said the effort would improve routine trips for many while opening work chances.
In a broader view, this ties into Balochistan’s push for better city setups, including budget allocations for transport in 2025-26.

Social media highlights the project’s role in modernizing travel. For instance, this post from Baloch Wire shares details on the expansion:
Officials plan to monitor the service and possibly grow it further based on use. This comes amid other development work in the province, like youth programs and peace initiatives led by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti.
The buses went live on August 22, 2025, signaling steady progress in urban mobility for Balochistan.
