CDA Launches Mobile App to Enhance Islamabad’s Electric Bus Services

Islamabad’s Capital Development Authority (CDA) has unveiled the “CDA Mobile App,” a new tool integrating metro and feeder electric bus routes with Google Maps, making public transport easier for residents and visitors.

App Enhances Travel Experience

On August 24, 2025, the CDA introduced its official mobile application to provide real-time information on Islamabad’s eco-friendly electric bus services. The app aims to simplify journey planning and improve access to modern, air-conditioned public transport across the city.

Key Meeting to Boost Services

A meeting led by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa at CDA headquarters reviewed the app’s rollout and discussed ways to enhance bus services. Attendees, including Member Administration Talat Mahmood, Member Planning Dr. Khalid Hafeez, and NRTC officials, focused on improving user experience through technology.

App Features for Easy Navigation

The CDA Mobile App offers tools to make travel seamless:

  • Route Details: Access all active bus routes, stops, and schedules, linked with Google Maps.
  • Journey Planning: Get estimated travel times for efficient trip planning.
  • Tourism Support: Discover nearby attractions and landmarks for visitors.
  • Real-Time Updates: Receive instant alerts on route changes or service updates.

Future Upgrades in Progress

The CDA is developing advanced features, including real-time bus tracking and mobile payment options for fares. Users will soon pay via ATM cards, Visa, MasterCard, EasyPaisa, JazzCash, and QR codes. Randhawa directed officials to speed up these features to ensure a smooth payment system. The app’s full version, currently in its final development phase, will launch soon.

Commitment to Better Transport

Randhawa emphasized promoting the app to ensure residents can easily access bus information. He urged officials to raise awareness about routes and stops, enabling users to plan trips from home. The CDA aims to align services with global standards, selecting high-demand routes and expanding feeder bus operations. A new depot at Zero Point is also nearing completion to support citywide coverage.
