Revamping Policing in Punjab

During her trip to Tokyo, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz revealed plans to upgrade Punjab’s law enforcement with Japan’s high-tech policing model. Smart Traffic and Surveillance Upgrades

The project focuses on transforming Punjab’s traffic management and policing capabilities. Key changes include:

  • Smart Traffic Systems: Real-time monitoring to ease congestion and improve road safety.
  • Advanced Surveillance: Infrared and ultrasonic tools to enhance detection and monitoring.
  • Quick Response: Automated systems to reduce emergency response times.

Lahore will be the first city to test this Japanese-inspired traffic model, designed to streamline operations and reduce accidents through data-driven solutions.

Collaboration with Japan

In Tokyo, Japan’s National Police Agency briefed Punjab officials on their operational systems, including centralized data hubs and inter-agency coordination. Punjab plans to adopt similar methods, supported by training programs and technical partnerships with Japanese experts to ensure smooth implementation.

A Safer Punjab Ahead

“This upgrade will make our police force more effective and responsive,” a Punjab government spokesperson said. With Lahore leading the way, the initiative promises safer roads, faster emergency services, and better public access to police support, setting a new standard for law enforcement in Punjab.
