Toyota Hilux Travo 2026 Hits Pakistani Roads with Electric Pickup

The vehicle, recently unveiled in markets like Thailand (where it’s called the Hilux Travo), brings updated styling and new powertrains. A photo shared on X by user Suneel Sarfraz Munj shows the truck parked at the rest stop, sparking discussions among local enthusiasts about its potential arrival through imports or official channels.

Exterior and Interior Updates The design draws from a bolder, more modern look with slim LED headlights, a revised grille (piano-black on the electric model), sharper body lines, and updated rear lights. Inside, the cabin includes dual 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment, plus features like a 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, and wireless charging.

Powertrain Options Toyota offers multiple choices to suit different needs:

  • Electric (BEV): Dual-motor all-wheel drive, 59.2 kWh battery, estimated 240 km range per charge. Front motor delivers 205 Nm torque, rear 268.6 Nm. Payload rated at 715 kg, towing up to 1,600 kg.
  • Diesel: 2.8L turbo-diesel with 48V mild-hybrid assistance for better efficiency, up to 500 Nm torque. Payload 1,000 kg, towing 3,500 kg.
  • Petrol: 2.7L naturally aspirated engine, 245 Nm torque, with similar payload and towing figures as the diesel.

All variants share 18-inch alloy wheels and many premium features.

This electric variant targets urban or shorter-haul use, while conventional models retain the Hilux’s reputation for heavy-duty work. In Pakistan, where long distances and rough terrain are common, the 240 km range on the EV may limit appeal for some buyers. Local assembly or imports remain unclear, as Indus Motor Company focuses on current models and hybrids.

Experts note Toyota’s multi-path strategy includes a future hydrogen fuel-cell version expected around 2028.
