KP’s New Bus Stand Project Nears Completion

The Peshawar New General Bus Stand project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reached its final stages and is close to opening. Officials are working to shift all major bus terminals to this one location, which should ease heavy traffic in the city and give passengers and bus operators better services.

Peshawar’s long-awaited central bus terminal is in its closing phase. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government plans to move bus operations from scattered sites across the city to this single hub. The change is meant to cut down on road jams and make travel smoother for daily commuters and long-distance travelers.

A recent high-level meeting, led by Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, checked the latest progress. The review tied into the priorities set by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi, who has pushed for better governance and public services in the province.

The new facility will include wide waiting zones, well-arranged parking spots, updated ticketing counters, and clean restrooms. These upgrades build on earlier work done in places like Swat, where bus terminals got improvements, along with better parking in other areas.

Teams from urban planning, transport, and local government offices are coordinating to meet deadlines. Bringing all bus services under one roof is expected to improve traffic movement on Peshawar’s main roads and lower daily congestion.

Officials view the terminal as a standard for future projects in other KP cities. It fits into broader efforts that include road expansions, better traffic lights, and steps to keep commuters safe.

When it opens, the bus stand should make public transport more reliable and comfortable. The project shows the provincial government’s ongoing push for planned urban growth and practical improvements for residents.
