A fake online scheme promising Rs 5,000 as Eidi under the name of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is spreading fast across social media and messaging apps. Authorities and cybersecurity experts have confirmed it is a complete fraud with no connection to the Punjab government.
Lahore: As Eid ul-Fitr approaches in 2026, a viral message claims Punjab residents aged 12 and above can get Rs 5,000 directly in their Easypaisa or JazzCash accounts by registering with their CNIC or B-Form on a supposed official website.
The posts, shared widely on WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube, and some third-party sites, include step-by-step instructions and even fake eligibility rules to make it look real. Many lead to deceptive portals like govtpunjab.com.pk, which copy government designs but are private domains unrelated to any official department.
Cybersecurity reports and media checks show these sites collect personal details such as ID numbers, phone numbers, and wallet information. Some push gambling ads or try to trick users into further payments. Officials stress that the Punjab government has made no announcement about any such Eidi cash transfer linked to Maryam Nawaz.
Genuine welfare help in Punjab comes through verified channels only. Programs like the Punjab Nigehban Ramzan Package use short code 8070, while federal ones like BISP Kafaalat operate via 8171. These are always free, announced on .gov.pk sites, and never ask for fees or OTPs through random links.
If you have already entered your details on one of these fake sites, act quickly. Easypaisa users should call 3737 right away, and JazzCash users should dial 4444 to report and secure their accounts.
No credible media or official Punjab channel has reported a real Maryam Nawaz Eidi Scheme. Stick to verified government sources for any aid announcements to avoid losing your data or money.
