Umrah ticket prices surge in Ramazan 2026 Pakistan
Airlines raise Umrah fares amid Ramazan rush

The surge in Umrah ticket prices during Ramazan 2026 has hit Pakistani pilgrims hard, with airlines raising fares due to heavy demand in the early days of the holy month.

Ramazan began around February 18-19, 2026 (depending on moon sighting), and the first Ashra has already brought a sharp increase in travelers heading to Saudi Arabia for Umrah. Airlines, both local and international, quickly adjusted prices as bookings filled up fast.

Economy class tickets, which used to cost between Rs130,000 and Rs140,000, now range from Rs180,000 to Rs200,000 — a jump of about 40%. Business class seats have climbed even higher, crossing Rs500,000 per person in many cases, up from earlier levels of Rs425,000 to Rs450,000.

Travel agents report that flights are almost fully booked on major routes, leaving few confirmed seats available. This rush is typical during Ramazan, but sources in the aviation sector say the spike came quicker this year than in previous seasons.

Experts point out that when demand outstrips supply, carriers raise fares to balance loads. If the trend holds, prices may go up more in the second and third Ashra, especially around the last ten nights when many aim to perform Umrah for added spiritual rewards.

Despite the higher costs, the religious importance of performing Umrah in Ramazan keeps demand strong. Many families see it as a special opportunity for prayers and reflection during the blessed month.

Travel agents recommend booking as soon as possible to avoid further increases or missing out on seats altogether. Pilgrims face a tough decision: secure a ticket now at current rates or wait and potentially pay more later.

This situation underscores the ongoing challenges of high-season travel to Makkah and Madinah, where spiritual pull meets practical limits on flights and pricing.
